Noise Event Recorder
Model 3165

System Features
  • NVH data fully integrated with dynamometer stop data
  • Accuracy ± 3 dB
  • BNC type connectors
  • ICP support
  • Automated spectral analysis
  • Noise event audio playback

To answer the need for a means to monitor possible noise events during dynamometer performance testing, the Model 3165 Noise Event Recorder was developed. This economical system is not intended for high precision measurements, but is ideal for monitoring noise and “red-flagging” noise events that may indicate an issue to be addressed.

The new system provides a powerful tool for identifying noise events. However, it is not NIST traceable and is not a precision measuring instrument. It should not be considered a substitution for a precision noise analysis system. The Recorder works in conjunction with our ProLink™ software package and a PC sound card. It provides a maximum of two channels of data acquisition and can set to capture data in a number of modes.

A peak hold or waterfall spectrum can then be captured for each stop in which noise exceeded the peak threshold. The user would then be able to review the data with RevDataPlus to see the amplitude and frequency of the noise encountered. In addition, the Reviewer allows you to capture WAV files that can be played on the PC so that you can actually hear the noise that has occurred.
