The Link Model 1400 Scale Aircraft Dynamometer provides an economical alternative to full scale dynamometer testing. This test stand replicates the kinetic energy per unit area and other parameters such as temperature at the friction interface. It has been used extensively in simulating the performance of carbon-carbon brakes. The advantages of this system include small generic sample sizes, simple fixturing which does not require actual aircraft components, low energy requirements, and more rapid test cycles.
The Model 1400 is designed to replicate and analyze actual aircraft operating conditions and the friction interface. The test system utilizes the ProLink software package providing a graphical interface and network ready access. Test sequences are easily programmed to simulate taxiing landings, rejected take-offs, etc. A wide array of parameters are monitored and recorded during such tests. The optional environmental-controlled test chamber permits precise control of temperature and humidity. Also, low temperature cooling air may be used to rapidly cool sample materials for faster test cycles.
